The Chimera Project
The Chimera Project was a 2D game that I designed and made from the ground up as one of my University assignments. The premise of this game was that of a top-down shooter, heavily inspired by Call of Duty Zombies, combined with my own twist of monsters. The monsters being inspired by Cthulu-esque aesthetics and design. A huge part of the game was the design and creation of all the different types of weapons within the game. This involved not only a top-down perspective that the player character would hold, and a more detailed side profile of the gun that can be used in GUI. Additionally, I crafted the lore for monster's, giving them more depth which in turn helped solidify the blueprint of the creatures and also gave me the monster's name, Chimeras, a parasitic enemy. The building process continued, evolving to make different enemy types, all with the Chimera very clear in the design details to help make my enemies unique and to have that horror aspect. Then alongside the monsters was the player character themself, for them I was inspired by Hank from Resident Evil, going with the full body armour with visor visual. Finally, I turned my attention to the miscellaneous items that fleshed out the rest of the game, for example, the health pack on display.
